Creating your first app

The 8-step app onboarding, what each step captures, and what you get out the other end.

The app onboarding is 8 steps. Every answer goes into a tailored distribution plan — so specificity pays off here more than anywhere else in the product.

Step 1 — Basics

Name, tagline, icon letter, accent color, URL, category. The accent color re-skins every surface you use for this app, so pick something you want to live with.

Step 2 — Business model

B2B / B2C / B2B2C / Prosumer / Creator. Revenue model. Price tier. Geographic target. Sales motion (PLG vs sales-led). These structure the plan's channel recommendations.

Step 3 — Audience

Write 20–500 chars describing your user. Specific is good. "Founders" is bad; "bootstrapped technical founders pre-product-market-fit" is good. Then pick channels where they already are.

Step 4 — Stage & assets

Idea / Prelaunch / Private beta / Public beta / Launched / Growing / Scaling. Upload 1–6 screenshots and a logo. Paste any social handles or app store URLs you have.

Step 5 — Competition

Up to 5 competitors (name + URL). Your unique angle in 20–280 characters. Up to 10 admired brands (for aesthetic/tone reference — we read these).

Step 6 — Distribution constraints

Where you're already posting. Where you want to focus. Where you refuse to be (avoid list is a hard NO — we never suggest those channels). Time budget per week.

Step 7 — Goal

One primary metric (users / MRR / waitlist / downloads / newsletter / followers / demos / other) with a target, current number, and your biggest blocker.

Step 8 — Generated plan

Summary + biggest leverage + "start here" channels with cadence + "also consider" + "skip for now" + a week-by-week 30-day plan. If you don't like it, edit the inputs and regenerate.
