The people behind distro

Built by founders who ship.

distro exists because we lived the problem for years before we built the fix. This is us, what we believe, and why you can trust us with your distribution practice.

Hi. I'm Karmendra. I'm writing this from a small apartment in Pune, India, at the end of a Friday where I shipped three features and posted zero of them. Classic founder problem.

I started building products when I was 19. Over the next 14 years I shipped 9 products across SaaS, mobile, browser extensions, and one truly weird hardware project nobody remembers. Some did fine. Most didn't. And in every single case — every time one failed — the reason wasn't the product.

It was distribution.

I'd build something I was proud of. Launch it with a tweet that three people saw. Post on Product Hunt at a bad time. Write a blog post nobody read. Then spend three months convinced the product needed more features, when really it just needed people to hear about it.

Why distro exists

After the third product failed this way, I started studying distribution obsessively. I read every indie hacker who was actually winning. I joined communities, took notes, broke down why certain posts went viral. And I found a pattern nobody was talking about:

The winners weren't better marketers. They had better systems.

They captured ideas constantly. They evaluated before writing. They batched repurposing across platforms. They learned from every post with a mini post-mortem. They did this every day, in 10-20 minutes, for years.

The tools for this didn't exist. Or they existed but were designed for agencies and ghostwriters and spammers — not for founders who wanted to sound like themselves. So I built the tool I needed. That's distro.

What we believe

  • Craft matters in distribution as much as in product. A sloppy post about a great product is still sloppy. Your distribution should have the same care as your codebase.
  • Consistency beats intensity. One Tuesday evening post, every week, for a year, beats a launch campaign that goes viral once and dies.
  • Your voice is your moat. Every AI tool will generate ‘I'm excited to share...’ slop. Sounding like yourself is the only defensible thing.
  • The best tools respect your time. We will never waste yours with upsells, dark patterns, or artificial limits designed to force upgrades.
  • Show up daily, compound weekly, win yearly. Distribution is patience compounded. There are no shortcuts and that's fine.

The team

distro is small and stays small. Two people right now. We prefer to ship more than hire more.
