Terms of Service

The rules, in plain English.

We tried to write terms you'd actually want to read. If something is unclear, email us — these should be understandable, not impressive.

1. Agreement

By creating a distro account, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't create an account — and please tell us why, because we'd rather fix the terms than lose a potential user.

These terms were last updated April 15, 2026. We'll notify you of material changes at least 30 days in advance.

2. Your account

You're responsible for your account and anything done under it. Keep your credentials safe. Use a password manager. Enable 2FA once we ship it. Don't share your account with other humans — we sell additional seats very inexpensively if you need team access.

You must be at least 13 years old. If you're under 18, you must have permission from a parent or guardian to use distro.

3. Acceptable use

distro is a tool for distributing your own products and ideas. These uses are fine:

  • Building a distribution practice for your own apps, SaaS, content, or services
  • Using BYOK AI for content generation for your own brands
  • Participating in peer reviews honestly and thoughtfully
  • Exploring, experimenting, and figuring out what works for you

These uses are not fine and will get your account suspended:

  • Generating misinformation, harassment, or content that violates our Content Policy
  • Running spam operations, engagement farms, or fake review mills
  • Violating third-party rights (copyright, trademark, publicity)
  • Reverse-engineering, scraping, or abusing the API beyond rate limits
  • Impersonating others or creating deceptive content
  • Gaming the peer review system (review trading, collusion, low-effort submissions)

4. Your content

You own everything you create in distro — your ideas, drafts, writing samples, posts, reviews. You grant us a limited license to store, display, and process it as needed to run the product for you. This license ends the moment you delete your content or your account.

We don't use your content to train foundation models. We don't share it with anyone outside your account (except with peer reviewers you explicitly invite, or subprocessors as described in our Privacy Policy).

5. BYOK (Bring Your Own Keys)

distro uses your API keys from providers like Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, and others. When you use these keys:

  • You pay the AI provider directly — we never charge for inference.
  • You agree to each provider's terms of service when using their APIs.
  • We encrypt your keys at rest and never log them. We use them only to make AI requests on your behalf for features you've triggered.
  • We're not responsible for charges incurred on your BYOK accounts. We provide monthly spend caps and alerts as guardrails.

6. Pricing, payments, and refunds

Free tier is free forever. No credit card required. We may eventually introduce usage caps on the free tier if abuse becomes an issue, but we'll always give 30 days' notice before doing so.

Pro ($9/month) is billed monthly via Stripe. You can cancel anytime from Settings → Billing. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period — no refunds for partial periods, but no renewal either.

Add-ons (Done-for-you Launchpad, asset pack, directory pack, credit packs) are one-time purchases. Full refunds within 14 days of purchase if the service hasn't been delivered. After delivery, refunds are case-by-case.

Annual billing: we offer 2 months free if you pay annually. Pro-rated refunds available if you cancel within 30 days.

7. Peer review credits

Credits earned through peer reviews are non-monetary and non-transferable. They can't be cashed out. They can be used to request reviews on your own apps. Credits purchased in packs can be refunded within 14 days if unused.

We reserve the right to remove credits earned through gaming, collusion, or abuse of the review system.

8. Account termination

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We'll remove your data within 30 days.

We can terminate accounts for violations of these terms. We'll always notify you first (unless the violation is severe enough to warrant immediate action) and give you a chance to export your data.

9. Liability and disclaimers

distro is provided “as is.” We try hard to keep it running well, but we can't guarantee 100% uptime, perfect accuracy of AI outputs, or that every feature works perfectly for every use case.

Our liability for any claim related to distro is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. For free-tier users, that's $0. We're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

You're responsible for your own content, compliance with third-party rules (Twitter ToS, LinkedIn ToS, etc.), and the consequences of your distribution actions.

10. Disputes and governing law

We hope we never need this section. If we have a disagreement, email [email protected] first — we'll try hard to resolve it.

If that fails, these terms are governed by the laws of [Jurisdiction]. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of [Jurisdiction].
